How to Fix Can my Thinkpad L490 be my Hackintosh daily driver?

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

I currently own a Thinkpad L490 (i7-8565U, Intel UHD 620, 16Gb RAM, 512 SSD), which I bought a little over a year ago. I have been thinking about buying a mac since a lot of my current work/uni tasks would benefit a lot from macOS. I've been reading a lot about Hackintosh, and I see that the setup process is a lot easier nowadays. I have also seen that many people don't recommend Hackintosh as a daily driver given its lack of stability. With all this being said, would I be able to install macOS on my machine, and use it for all my work, on a daily basis? I'm a computer science student, so most of my workflow would be for programming.
Thanks!
