Hey all! I need a hand. As the title says, I am thinking about building a hackintosh for running Pro Tools and some other audio software. PT will likely be the heaviest software running on it. Anyways, would this be a good idea to do? I currently have a 2020 MacBook Pro (custom ordered but not 100% top of the line) and it's running Catalina. I would prefer Catalina as I like a lot of how it runs but if another OS is better I'm more than willing to give it a shot.
I've never built a PC before but I have replaced some hardware and am pretty confident in my ability to be cautious enough to not break anything. So, I have no idea where to start with hardware. I know Mac OS's are picky with hardware.
Here's a handful of things I would like to have, if possible:
Kickass sound card for obvious reasons
4k graphics. Maybe not high-end gaming 4k, but Pro Tools on the 3072 display of the MacBook is notably better compared to 1080p and makes life a lot easier. I would also consider 2k graphics as a budget in-between
2 Drive slots (SSD's of course)
Expandable RAM to 32gb or possibly 64gb. I would be fine starting with 16gb and expanding as time goes along

Lastly, the budget. I'd be paying for the parts over time so budget isn't the biggest concern but I don't want to be dropping $5k on a desktop or something. I'm hoping for under $2k but with this wishlist I don't think that will happen.
