How to Fix (Help?) The outlet I had my rig plugged into seems like it's shorted...
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Boot with
-v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100to identify the exact kernel panic. - Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
- Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
So the wall outlet I've had my rig plugged into for the past couple of years seems to be dead. While this obviously means I need to call an electrician, my rig now won't boot when plugged into other outlets with any reliability.
Y'all are the hardware geniuses, is this the sort of thing a new power supply can easily fix, or am I possibly looking at needing to build a whole new rig if there was a serious surge situation?
