How to Fix OpenCore Update Guide?

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

I just got my hack up and running 100% and failed in following some of the opencore update guides. Is there a concise guide about what exactly needs to be done? I updated the core files, the kexts, matched the new sample plist to my working one (a few things were different but I don’t think it’s supposed to be 100% the same) and the only kexts that weren’t updated were my usb map and Realtek drivers. Anyone know if there’s a guide to what else needs to be done? I had to change vault mode, which got me a bit further but it fails about 30 lines in to verbose mode after that. I reverted to my working efi until I can figure it out
