How to Fix Do Radeon 6000 cards work now that official support is present in released (non-beta) macOS Big Sur 11.4+?

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

According to Apple Inc., macOS 11.4 has official support for Radeon 6800, 6800XT and 6900XT. However, according to the Dortania documentation, such support is supposedly not available. Now, is this just a case of the Dortania/OpenCore docs being outdated, or is the Radeon 6000 support on 11.4 release actually problematic on Hackintosh systems?

I ask because I've read of several people successfully employing the cards on 11.4 betas, but not on the final release of the software, and it sometimes happens that features pre-released on macOS 11 betas are not kept in the release and are instead pushed to the following beta cycle.

Anyone had success on macOS 11.4 or 11.5 with those cards?
