Hey guys,
So I have a HP Omen laptop with i7-8750H, GTX 1060, 16 gigs of RAM, 128 GB SSD & 1TB HDD running Windows 10.
I was planning on a hackintosh of the PC, but I need to get macOS running quickly for some development related work.
I went with virtualization of Big Sur via VMWare on Windows, but since I have the VM on HDD, it's lagging badly and I need to try something else.
I'm looking forward to virtualize it with Manjaro as dual boot, using simple-kvm & sosumi, and I have some questions regarding the process for which I need your help.
-
I don't have much space in SSD. Would the macOS be fast enough on HDD as it's on Linux, or should I upgrade the SSD and install on it?
-
With Windows, I had assigned 8GB to macOS & 8 to Windows. What would be a decent partition with macOS & Manjaro?
-
Would I be able to boot macOS from BIOS or would it boot Manjaro and then I've to run macOS? Also would I be able to dual boot it with Windows?
-
I've read that GPU pass-through is required for decent performance. Would it be possible with my Nvidia mobile gpu? If not, how bad would the performance be if I'm looking to code and test apps on iOS emulator?
As you can probably tell, I'm very new to this. I feel like I've hit a dead-end with online resources pertaining to questions in my situation.
I'd appreciate anything you can help me with!
