How to Fix Display switches of before login
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
- Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
- Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
I have a weird issue. After the mac hard disk is selected for boot from picker. The apple logo with the progress bar appears, it tends to load say about 30-40% and then the display switches off. It switches back on at the login screen. The weird part is this was not happening on Catalina. Its occurring on BigSur though. I have an RX580. Any ideas what could be causing the display to switch off? haven't changed anything apart from adding dk.e1000=0 in boot-args for the Intel I225-V no other changes.
Cheers.
