How to Fix Stalled Install on Optiplex 990
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Boot with
-v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100to identify the exact kernel panic. - Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
- Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
Was able to
1) make USB with Mojave in Legacy mode
2) install on SSD - the BIOS is set to Legacy and SATA to ACHI,
3) set up Mojave
4) run MultiBeast.
5) remove USB and reboot! That's the problem area.
When rebooting I get error message, "no bootable drive".
When I re-insert the bootable Mojave install drive, the Clover Bootloader is recognized, and system works
I see "5102, booted from EFI" at bottom right of screen.
The Black bootup page with Clover on top gives me following
