This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Verify your network controller model (Intel, Broadcom, Realtek).
  2. Ensure the correct kext (e.g., AirportItlwm or BrcmPatchRAM) is loaded in your config.
  3. Clear network interfaces and reset NVRAM if changes don't apply.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Mac Mini 6,2 (Late 2012) CORRUPTED INSTALLER /failed to validate installer error.

I’ve been getting this error trying to build an installer all day. (See photo attached). I’ve tried this on every SATA disk and USB drive I have. This particular installer came from Mr. Macintosh InstallerAssistant.pkg archive, and I downloaded it over Ethernet directly from the router so I am quite certain it’s not corrupted from the download process.

I had only slightly more luck from a wifi downloaded Installer that actually completed the process of making an installer and then failed with a “corrupt installer, please download again” type error in the installation process. Please note, I intend to do a clean install not an update from Catalina (hence why I’m running High Sierra at the moment.

Any ideas?
