How to Fix Startup error: OCB: LoadImage failed - Unsupported.

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hi, I’m new to hackintosh, I followed the dortania guide (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/) but I found the following error booting from usb:

OCB: LoadImage failed - Unsupported.

I was trying to install Monterey. I have already tried to do it all over again and follow other "guides" to solve (like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/qvg0ck/ocb_loade_failed_unsupported/) but I couldn’t solve the problem. I attach my EFI and Dell desktop (Dell optiplex 3040 D100U) pc specs.
