Just got a mid-2012 MacBook Pro on Sonoma 14.8.1 with OCLP

I recently purchased a 2012 MacBook pro on the cheap. It has a replaceable RAM, SSD and battery. Using OCLP last night, I put Sonoma 14..8.1 on it. These were my steps:

  1. Get SuperDuper! and make a backup of original system; it was running High Sierra.

  2. Update OCLP on one of my Macs already running Sonoma. Updated to 2.4.1.

  3. Use the updated OCLP to make a Sonoma installer on a USB. Key is to go to settings and make sure it is not defaulted to HOST, I set it for my model the Macbook Pro 9,1.

  4. Make the installer, it then asks to install OCLP on the USB drive - go ahead and do that. It will let you know when it is all done.

  5. With the power off, insert the USB into the MBPro 2012, hold the option key, turn on, and select EFI, then Install Sonoma. Let it go for a while.

  6. After install successful, got to System Settings and turn off all setting for Software Update.
