Resolving Sleep Crashes on MBP 2015
Crashes when closing the lid on a 2015 MacBook Pro running Sequoia are usually caused by a conflict between the legacy graphics drivers and the new power management stack.
Recommended Fixes:
- Disable Power Nap: Go to System Settings > Energy Saver and turn off Enable Power Nap. This prevents the Mac from waking up in the background and crashing.
- Hibernation Settings: Open Terminal and run
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0. This forces the Mac to use standard sleep instead of writing the RAM to disk. - OCLP FeatureUnlock: In OCLP settings, ensure 'FeatureUnlock' is disabled if you continue to experience wake-from-sleep crashes.
- SMC Reset: Perform an SMC reset to recalibrate the lid sensor and power controller.
Original Question: "2015 MacBook Pro on Sequoia. Crashes when lid closes or goes to sleep"
I used OCLP to install Sequoia on my 2015 MacBook Pro. i5 8gb RAM. Runs pretty well, but it crashes anytime it goes to sleep or I close the lid. Anyone else run into this? Any help is appreciated!
