How to Fix 'Stuck on Progress Bar' During OCLP Update

Resolving macOS Update Hangs on Legacy Macs

If your 2015 MacBook Air is stuck on the Apple logo progress bar during a Sequoia or Sonoma update, it's usually due to a verification delay for legacy kexts.

What to Do:

  1. Wait at least 2 hours: Updates on patched Macs can take significantly longer than on supported hardware. The progress bar may stay at 100% for 30-60 minutes while the system builds the kernel cache.
  2. Force Restart: If it's been over 3 hours, hold the power button to shut down, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Often, the update will finish the final steps after a forced reboot.
  3. Safe Mode: If it still won't boot, hold Shift to enter Safe Mode. This disables the root patches and allows the update to finish.
  4. Re-apply Root Patches: Once you reach the desktop, open OCLP and apply the Post-Install Root Patches to restore graphics acceleration.

Original Question: "It's been stuck on this for awhile"

Should I just wait?
