How to Fix 'Gamma/Brightness' Glitches on iMac 2013 (Sequoia)

Resolving Washed-Out Colors on Legacy iMac Displays

If your 2013 iMac shows greyed-out or washed-out colors when the brightness is low on macOS Sequoia, it's a conflict between the legacy display driver and the new color management system.

The Fix:

  1. Disable Automatic Brightness: Go to System Settings > Displays and uncheck 'Automatically adjust brightness'.
  2. Color Profile Reset: In the same menu, change your Color Profile to 'Generic RGB' or 'sRGB'. This often bypasses the buggy hardware-specific gamma curves.
  3. Night Shift: Ensure Night Shift is turned OFF, as it can intensify the washed-out effect on legacy panels.
  4. Root Patches: Ensure you have the latest NVIDIA Kepler graphics patches applied in OCLP.

Original Question: "My late 2013 iMac automatically adjust gamma according to brightness."

My late 2013 iMac automatically adjust gamma according to brightness.

I can't stop this or force it off in settings, and I tried searching up other cases similar to mines or asking around but I couldn't come to a solution. I'm running OCLP Sequoia and when my brightness is low all the colors become greyed/washed out, and when I increase them they become darker and get back to normal.
