Fixing Root Patching 'Pending Update' Conflict
This happens when macOS has downloaded a newer version (like macOS Tahoe) in the background, locking the system volume.
The Solution:
- Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode (hold Shift at boot). This often clears the staged update flag.
- Terminal Purge: Run
sudo softwareupdate --clear-catalogin Terminal. - Delete Assets: Delete the contents of
/Library/Updatesand/System/Library/AssetsV2/com_apple_MobileAsset_MacSoftwareUpdate. - Re-apply Patches: Open OCLP and the error should be gone, allowing you to re-install root patches.

 | Hi all, running a modded 27” 2011 iMac which has been in sequoia for about 6 months no problem with OCLP. Today I turned it on and seems as though root patches have been reverted. I tried to reinstall them and it tells me ‘make sure there are no pending updates’. The only available update is Tahoe, which has always been in setting but I never upgraded so I don’t know why it’s a problem now? The root patching says there is an update in progress, there is not. In settings, I have automatic updates off, download new updates when available is off. Is anyone able to help please? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
