Choosing the Right OS for your Retina iMac
For a Late 2015 27-inch iMac, the choice between staying on Monterey or moving to a newer version depends on your need for specific features.
The Comparison:
- Stay on Monterey: If you value 100% stability and zero glitches. Monterey is the last OS that natively supports many Intel-specific features.
- Move to Sequoia: If you need the latest iPhone Mirroring, Passwords app, or newer versions of Logic/Final Cut. Sequoia runs very well on this model once root patches are applied.
- Avoid Tahoe: As you noted, Tahoe is currently too unstable for daily use on Intel Macs.
- Recommendation: If it's your main machine, stay on Monterey. If you're a power user who wants the latest features, macOS Sequoia is a great upgrade.
Original Question: "Staying on macOS Monterey or updating on 2015L 27 Inch iMac?"
So recently I got this used Late 2015 27 Inch iMac and its on Monterey, while investigating I saw that some people say that Monterey its the best version for late Intel Macs due to features and stability, so I don't know if I should use OCLP to update to anything between macOS 13 and 15 (because Tahoe sucks) or just play it safe and stay on Monterey, what do y'all think?
