How to Update a 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro to Sequoia

A 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro can move from Monterey to Sequoia with OCLP, and Touch Bar support normally survives when the install is done cleanly.

Step-by-Step Upgrade:

  1. Back up Monterey: Create a full backup before changing the system volume.
  2. Install the latest OCLP: Build OpenCore for the detected MacBookPro13,x model and install it to internal EFI.
  3. Create the Sequoia installer: Use OCLP to download or prepare the macOS Sequoia installer.
  4. Boot via OpenCore: Always choose EFI Boot/OpenCore during installer restarts.
  5. Run post-install patches: After first boot, apply Post-Install Root Patch and reboot before judging Touch Bar, graphics, or Wi-Fi.
