I'm using a Hackintosh build for music and audio that works great overall, but I'm trying to find a bottleneck I keep running into.
It's an i7 3930k on an ASUS Sabertooth x79, with a Asus GTX670 video card. Running 10.9.2 and the board is not OC'd with everything set to default or AUTO.
I'm getting processing spikes with low CPU use. Meaning, the processing bar in my DAW jumps from being barely there to being pegged at max with clicks and pops. This leads me to believe it's not CPU power, but a real time bottleneck somewhere, perhaps a bad driver.
I've tried disabling and enabling C States, Speedstep, hyper threading, turbo boost, and the MB's on board audio (I use a MOTU 424 PCIe card that has good drivers). Problem gets worse when things aren't set to the defaults as far as I can tell.
Is there anything like a DPC Latency Checker or Latencymon for OS X? Just need help going through the checklist of what could be causing problems.
Thanks!
