I've got a 4-5 year old hackintosh running El Capitan and for the most part it actually works super well. but I'm thinking that it's due for an upgrade. I mainly use it for work and I do environmental graphics work (think signages and way finding systems for malls, schools, a couple of times even large 30-40 stories commercial buildings). While not as heavy tasking as sound design or defos movie editing, I do have to manage complex CAD files and stupid large photoshop files so i do need a fairly schwifty machine. I'd also like to dual boot so that I can run autoCAD to better serve my clients and maybe step into doing 3D renders.
anyways here is my current setup. months worth of saving from my dishwashing weekend and call centre weekday job ages ago. look at me now! ;
- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H
- CPU Intel Core i7-4770K
- Graphics Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 Windforce OC
- RAM Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB)
- Network TP-Link N900 TL-WDN4800 god i need to change this card so badly
I've got a soft budget of $700 USD to upgrade this rig. and i'd like to get a bang out of my buck. Here are the parts that I'm looking at;
- Motherboard Gigabyte H270M-D3H
- CPU Intel Core i5 7600K
- Graphics Gigabyte GTX1050Ti 4G
- SSD WD Green 240 (optional since SSDs are affordable now)
- Network TP-Link Archer T9E
Should I be considering other parts for my upgrade? Can I make this upgrade without buying a new motherboard (that money could be spent on a better CPU or Graphics card)? How complex is the upgrading process? Would I be doing a clean install of clover and OSX? I have never upgraded an existing rig before and would appreciate the guidance. Thanks!
