Check out this new macOS concept from designer Thomas Weinreich that imagines macOS ditching traditional windows in favor of a split screen interface similar to iPad.With a better windows management the old desktop metaphor is no longer needed. No more floating windows that waste space and are cumbersome to arrange. Instead apps always use the full screen and macOS has fast, easy and flexible splitscreen-capabilities.
Like on iOS, Weinreich suggests that a screens-history bar could show all the last used apps, replacing Mission Control. Integrated into the SpringBoard it would be the new starting point for Mac. Users could pin apps in the screens-history and rearrange them.
