How to Fix Hackintosh Waking, but monitor not turning on
Hardware-related issues after macOS updates or OCLP patches often require re-applying root patches, resetting SMC/NVRAM, or verifying physical component health.
Quick Fix Steps
- Reset NVRAM/SMC: Use the OpenCore picker for NVRAM reset; follow the correct SMC reset sequence for your Mac model.
- Re-apply patches: Open OCLP, run Post-Install Root Patch, then reboot.
- Check battery health: Review cycle count and service status in System Settings > Battery.
- Test without utilities: Disable battery limiters and login items that may override system behaviour.
Verification
- The issue persists after a cold boot (not just restart).
- Battery drain is normal over two charge cycles.
- Sleep/wake works without forced reboot.

Original Question: "Hackintosh Waking, but monitor not turning on"
Hi,
Recently got Opencore 0.6.1 Running on my hack and everything is working apart from sleep.
For some reason whenever the computer goes to sleep when waking back up it wakes up but the monitor doesnt turn back on (can use volume adjuster to hear sound levels change). Fiddling round and unplugging replugging eventually gets the monitor back on but would like to find a way where i dont have to do that.
I have disabled put drives to sleep as have heard that is an issue and have also set darkwake to 514.
Thank you for any help you can give!
