How to Fix Audio issue in Mojave

Audio problems are resolved by identifying the HDA codec and testing AppleALC layout IDs.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Identify codec: Hackintool or System Information for exact model (e.g. ALC892, ALC256).
  2. Test layout IDs: Add alcid=X to boot-args.
  3. Update AppleALC: Latest version alongside Lilu.
  4. DeviceProperties: Inject layout ID via config.plist for complex setups.

Verification

  • Speakers and headphone jack produce sound.
  • No crackling during playback.

Original Question: "Audio issue in Mojave"

I, for the life of me, can’t figure out how to get audio working on my machine. I have a Asus P8H67-M Pro motherboard, which I believe is ALC892 audio. I’ve tried Mojave and Catalina and both run flawlessly on the machine EXCEPT for audio! Any suggestions? I’ve tried audio inject 1,2,3,15,20. I’ve tried AppleALC and also VoodooHDA 🤷‍♀️
