How to Fix Big Sur: Installation of MacOS could not be continued

Network issues on Hackintosh or unsupported Macs are typically caused by chipset incompatibility, incorrect kext pairing, or corrupted network preferences.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Identify your network chipset: Open System Information > Wi-Fi/Bluetooth or use Hackintool.
  2. Use the correct kext: For Intel Wi-Fi use AirportItlwm, for Broadcom use BrcmPatchRAM, for Ethernet use IntelMausi or RealtekRTL8111.
  3. Reset network preferences: Delete /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and reboot.
  4. Check privacy settings: System Settings > Privacy > Location Services must be enabled.

Verification

  • Wi-Fi connects after reboot.
  • Bluetooth pairs and stays connected.
  • Location Services works in Maps.

Original Question: "Big Sur: Installation of MacOS could not be continued"

Hello there,

So i already had BigSur running with OC0.6.3 on my T440s but not everything worked.
Then sniki updated their guide for the T440s and i wanted to try this, but it did not boot, i found out that it was because i had my SystemProductName set to MacbookPro11,2 where Sniki used MacbookPro11,1.

So i tried changing snikis config.plist to 11,2 and it booted, but not everything worked so i decided to reinstall BigSur with 11,1 set. I wiped the disk and set up a new install usb.
Everything Worked fine but mid install i remered i forgot to change snikis config.plist back to 11,1, it was still set to 11,2 from my first try.

I cancelled the installation, changed the SystemProductName back to 11,1 and tried to install again, but now i got this error Message after clicking "reinstall MacOS" and then "Continue" in the next window. I had set it up in german, but translated the Error Message says something like:

Installation of MacOS could not be continued - For installation important contents must be donwloaded. Download is not possible at the moment. Please Try again later

But internet connection is available! i already was half through the download on the first try and if i pull the network cable i get another error message complaining about internet connection being neccessary for installation.

The installation log says:

Dec 2 21:19:52 MacBook-Pro-41 osinstallersetupd[461]: IFJS: Package Authoring Error: access to path "/tmp/com.apple.pkg.testing" requires <options allow-external-scripts='true'>

like a thousand times and also:

Dec 2 21:19:53 MacBook-Pro-41 osinstallersetupd[461]: JS: No bundle at/Applications/SafeView.app Dec 2 21:19:53 MacBook-Pro-41 osinstallersetupd[461]: OSISPredicateUpdateProduct: OS Installation Payload: Finished evaluating products in catalog (74 installable products) Dec 2 21:19:53 MacBook-Pro-41 osinstallersetupd[461]: OSISPredicateUpdateProduct: OS Installation Payload: No product found Dec 2 21:19:53 MacBook-Pro-41 osinstallersetupd[461]: Predicate update product fetch failed with error: Error Domain=com.apple.OSInstallerSetup.error Code=303 "Installation von macOS konnte nicht fortgesetzt werden." I already completely rebuild the install USB, redownloaded all files, cleared NVRAM but its all no use, i cant get rid of the message.

Can somebody please help me? I have no clue how to fix this.
