How to Fix Issues with GPU Spoof SSDT in Opencore Big Sur

Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU is natively supported via WhateverGreen docs.
  2. Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current.
  3. Check boot arguments: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging, or agdpmod=pikera for AMD.
  4. Test Metal: About This Mac > System Report > Graphics.

Verification

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth.
  • Metal is reported in System Information.

Original Question: "Issues with GPU Spoof SSDT in Opencore Big Sur"

I am trying to get my r9 390 to run correctly on Big Sur. I was able to get my system to boot however the 390 is not working (glitchy and non transparent dock). I followed the Dortania guide to create the GPU Spoof SSDT for the 390 -> 390x however when I add that to my EFI it no longer boots. It gets stuck on a line from PowerService complaining about AMD8000 controller. Not sure where to go from here.
