How to Fix Infinite boot loop with OC 0.6.4

Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU is natively supported via WhateverGreen docs.
  2. Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current.
  3. Check boot arguments: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging, or agdpmod=pikera for AMD.
  4. Test Metal: About This Mac > System Report > Graphics.

Verification

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth.
  • Metal is reported in System Information.

Infinite boot loop with OC 0.6.4

I posted a related question a few days ago, but I've since gotten past my kernel panic from [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START]

System:

  • Aorus Gaming 7 Z370 mobo
  • i7 8700k 3.7GHz
  • Radeon 580 (Pulse I think)
  • Fenvi 919
  • 48MB RAM

Everything works ok on OC 0.6.3, but when I try to switch over to 0.6.4 I find myself stuck in an infinite reboot loop. I've pared back my kexts to the bare essentials and I've run the config through sanity checkers and things like that, and I'm coming up empty. I did check the troubleshooting guide and I've followed the steps that seemed relevant.

I notice one interesting error in the attached log which I wonder if it has something to do with the problem, it says

ACPI Error: Method params/execution failed...AE_NOT_FOUND
