How to Fix macOS Big Sur installer closes instantly (OpenCore 0.6.4)

Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU is natively supported via WhateverGreen docs.
  2. Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current.
  3. Check boot arguments: Add -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 for debugging, or agdpmod=pikera for AMD.
  4. Test Metal: About This Mac > System Report > Graphics.

Verification

  • Graphics acceleration is smooth.
  • Metal is reported in System Information.

Original Question: "macOS Big Sur installer closes instantly (OpenCore 0.6.4)"

What happened?

Since last year I was using macOS Catalina with Clover using this guide https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/340936-audiogods-aorus-z390-master-patched-dsdt-efi-for-catalina-mini-guide-and-discussion/

I wanted to update to macOS Big Sur using same guide because now is available for OpenCore 0.6.4.

But when I try to install macOS, the installer crash. I tried everything since last week and I have no of what is happening.
