How to Handle Opencore kernel patcher error
The best macOS version depends on hardware age, GPU support, and workload.
Quick Steps
- Match macOS to hardware: Older Macs run best on Monterey/Ventura; newer ones can test Sonoma/Sequoia with OCLP.
- Update OCLP first: Latest version, build/install OpenCore, apply root patches.
- Test workload: Browser, Office, printing, sleep, Wi-Fi.
- Keep downgrade path: USB installer for previous macOS.
Verification
- Boots twice without intervention.
- Graphics and Wi-Fi work after patches.

Original Question: "Opencore kernel patcher error"
I use OC 0.5.7 on a B450 mainboard with Ryzen5 3600X processor.
When I check the debug logs of OC I see these two lines.
00:000 00:000 OC: Kernel patcher result 3 for kernel (algrey - cpuid_set_cache_info - cpuid 0x8000001D instead 0) - Not Found
00:363 00:363 OC: Kernel patcher result 24 for kernel (algrey - tsc_init - remove Penryn check to execute default case 10.14.1-.3) - Not Found
Luckily, everything works as expected. I am planning to update OC to the 0.6.4 release this week.
