How to Fix Stuck at Post Install: Fixing DRM (OpenCore)
Graphics issues usually stem from an unsupported GPU, missing acceleration patches, or incorrect boot arguments.
Quick Fix Steps
- Verify GPU support: Check if your GPU is natively supported via WhateverGreen docs.
- Update kexts: Ensure Lilu and WhateverGreen are current.
- Check boot arguments: Add
-v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100for debugging, oragdpmod=pikerafor AMD. - Test Metal: About This Mac > System Report > Graphics.
Verification
- Graphics acceleration is smooth.
- Metal is reported in System Information.

On High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14033). Also, not sure if this is related, but I was able to install and run my Nvidia driver.
first, the VDADecoderChecker doesn't work, I get this error when I run it: An error was returned by the decoder layer. This may happen for example because of bitstream/data errors during a decode operation. This error may also be returned from VDADecoderCreate when hardware decoder resources are available on the system but currently in use by another process. VDADecoderCreate failed. err: -12473
I thought I could still continue despite it not working, so I moved on to the next step: tried shikigva=256 with iMacPro 1,1 SMBIOS and shikigva=40 with iMac14,2 SMBIOS - neither of these worked.
