How to Fix Issue using Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Monitor

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
  2. Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
  3. Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hello, I have a running hackintosh under macOS Big Sur with open core 0.6.4. Almost everything is working fine, but I have a small problem when using the ultrastudio mini monitor to get a clean video feed to my reference monitor with resolve for colorgrading. After a fresh boot green artifacts are appearing on the reference monitor screen. To solve this I have to unplug and replug the mini monitor while the computer is still on and then restart the computer. After that it works fine, but everytime I shut down my computer (without using restart), when booting up again it doesn't work again. And so on.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this issue ?
