How to Fix Intel NUC8I5BEH - No HDMI audio output -- rest working
This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Verify your network controller model (Intel, Broadcom, Realtek).
- Ensure the correct kext (e.g., AirportItlwm or BrcmPatchRAM) is loaded in your config.
- Clear network interfaces and reset NVRAM if changes don't apply.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
Recently installed macOS big sur 11.2.3 with OpenCore 0.6.7 on Intel NUC8I5BEH following the guide https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/
Everything seems to be working fine other than the HDMI audio output (video working of course). I do get audio from the headphone jack and over bluetooth. And if I unplug the hdmi cable and replug it after boot up. The audio came out. This is very weird to me. People suggest using the kext fake_pciid. But I am not sure if this duplicates appalc. The codec on this NUC should be Realtek ALC233 and I have "alcid=28" set in boot-args.
Anybody has successful experience on this? Or where should I looked into to solve this problem.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
