This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.
Prerequisites
- Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
- Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.
Fix Steps
- Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
- Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
- Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.
Verification
- Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.
Original Question:
I like to use my laptop's internal display as a secondary display with the laptop hooked up to a monitor over HDMI (that being the primary display). This works well, but I've run into one little problem - when I close and reopen my laptop lid, I'm stuck at a black screen and have to cut power and reboot. Closing the lid and leaving it closed works fine - the internal display turns off and I can continue to use my monitor. But as soon as I open the laptop lid, the internal display lights up but stays black and my monitor loses signal. What's wrong here/how can I fix it?
