How to Fix OpenCore ethernet port not working

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Verify your network controller model (Intel, Broadcom, Realtek).
  2. Ensure the correct kext (e.g., AirportItlwm or BrcmPatchRAM) is loaded in your config.
  3. Clear network interfaces and reset NVRAM if changes don't apply.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Ive recently just built a hackintosh(asus prime z490, sapphire rx580, intel i7 10700, 16 gb ram, 1TB sata ssd sandisk) ive booted in using open core (comet lake + big sur) and initially all was working but now the ethernet port isnt working? Ive read that i need to change a kext but unsure of where to find out steps on where to get it? Ive also not made and post install changes or downloaded anything. All help is appreciated thanks! Also any other tips seeing as this is my first hackintosh send them my way!
