How to Fix Adding an extra SSD to my Hackintosh laptop so I can run Windows

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hi all, have had many Hackintosh laptops over the years but reluctantly need Windows OS for a few upcoming projects. I don't want to mess with duel boots etc so plan to load Windows 7 or 8 onto a SSD and swap out the drive on my laptop for when I occasionally need to use Windows.

Has anyone here done the same? Would appreciate any advice. I'm going to need to prepare this drive on my Hackintosh laptop running Yosemite as I don't have any Windows machines. Any tutorials or videos would be really appreciated... : )
