How to Fix Windows is not showing as an option after moving from Catalina/Clover to BigSur/OpenCore.

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hi!

I am running the most recent version of BigSur and OpenCore. Everything is working just fine.

Previously I had a Catalina+Clover install in my primary SSD and Windows 10 on a secondary HDD.

After I installed BigSur I could not see Windows as a boot option in OC's boot selection.

Accordingly, as mentioned in the guide I have the following setting on my config.plist:

Misc -> BlessOverride -> \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi

Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks!

P.S: I am using a laptop.
