How to Fix Problem dual booting under Opencore when using Hdmi out

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
  2. Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
  3. Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

Hello,

I've come across a strange issue... I successfully installed Big Sur on u Gigabyte Brix Pro 4570R using Opencore and EFI from sash11 (https://github.com/sash11/Gigabyte-BXi5-4570R). I instaled Windows on a separate SSD and got them to dual boot under OC as well. However, when I switch video output to HDMI on a TV, it will refuse to boot into Windows and instead will start doing the "Preparing Automatic Repair" boot loop. Booting into MacOS is fine. If I change the Bios boot order to go to Windows first (bypassing OC), it boots into Windows without problem. The kicker is that if I switch the video to HDMI on a monitor (instead of a TV) , it will boot into Windows just fine, no issues at all. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!
