How to Fix Pretty dumb question : About NVidia mobile GPUs

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
  2. Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
  3. Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

I am pretty new to this thing, have hacked one laptop with intel iGPU tho. This is question about SMBIOS things.

So lets say i got a laptop with haswell CPU and GT740M GPU, kepler. The only SMBIOS option for haswell + NVidia GPU is the MacBookPro11,3 which uses Iris Pro 5200 + GT750M (kepler based).

I've tried the pretty much same thing about iGPU. right now using MacBookPro15,4 (Iris 645) with my UHD 620, BUT. How about NVidia GPU? Is it all about generation? If the SMBIOS use kepler and the hack use kepler too, most likely, it will boot fine, right?

oh and one more question. Anything i should add to make it work? or will it run natively because its kepler?

i promise this is my last question. this is my curiousity.

is there any, kinds of open source driver for unsupported GPUs?

like, can you basically run a MacPro with RTX series GPU? with some spoofs and 3rd party drivers? Is there any way to use it or is it a dead lock?
