How to Fix KP - Install 10.5.7 - USB - Z490

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

I try to install Catalina on my Z490 using MacPro 7,1 using a OpenCore 0.8.5 USB Stick. The USB Stick is 32 GB, I reduced the partition to 20 GB.

The Installer loads, shows the first Apple Logo, Screen turns grey and the again the Apple Logo. After the Apple Logo the screen turns grey again and it shows me an error log file.

I can't get around this error and I don't know what it means at all.

Please see attached config.plist and error message.

Any idea?
