  I have a Mac 5,1 that I recently installed an AMD 6900xt into and added the Pixlas Mod for the power increase. After doing the upgrade I lost the display screen however I was still able to remote into the computer through screen sharing. I was also able to rarely get the boot picker screen if I held the option key at startup. It didn’t always work I would say 1/4 the time. I have HDMI and DisplayPort Connections and neither work.

  I was hoping that adding OCLP to the machine and updating to Tahoe would fix this issue. I downloaded the program and installed Open Core onto the computer. I had OCLP download and install the EFI and Tahoe onto a clean USB stick.

  When I restarted the computer I didn’t get the boot picker screen and tried a number of restarts to no avail. I also found that if I didn’t hold the option key on boot the Mac would shutdown about 1-2 minutes after being turned on. I tried using the arrow keys on the keyboard and blindly selecting in the right order the update files. This hasn’t worked.

  I was unable to find any work arounds to this problem.

  Any Suggestions?

  I wanted to install macOS Monterey with OCLP (version 2.4.0) on an old iMac 20 inches (beginning 2009-8GB) but received the message "An error occurred while preparing the installation" even after several unsuccessful reboots.

  The hard drive had been erased (with "MacOS Extended" format) but I do not see it on the boot picker screen anymore (only Install MacOS and EFI Boot), although still visible in Disk Utility and at the installation step (getting to the error message).

  Hello everyone. I've been trying to install Sonoma on my Notebook 9 Pro for a few days now using either Opencore or Clover and have had a bunch of issues. Yesterday, I finally was able to boot to Opencore and was met with a Prohibited sign, over and over again. Annoyed as it was pretty late, I slapped my keyboard and tried again and to my surprise it booted to the installer. Started the installation process, but every time it would reset I would have the same problem. After a thorough and complex experimentation phase (consisting of slapping my keyboard lol), I had determined that pressing the C key allowed me to proceed. Don't judge me, I was pretty high at the time lol.

  My question to you is, what does pressing C at the Opencore selector screen actually do? I'm still doing post-install cleanup, kexts and whatnot and would like to stop pressing C lol.

  So I currently have a dual-boot setup with both Windows and MacOS, each on its own drive with its own EFI partition. When I turn on my PC, it boots into Windows right away as if MacOS doesn't exist. Whenever I want to boot into Mac I have to press the Esc key at startup and manually select the MacOS drive, and only then do I have the option to select between Windows/Mac.

  I would like to make my PC boot into the OC picker by default so I have the option to choose between the 2 OSes every time I reboot. The problem is that I am unable to change the boot priority in BIOS as the MacOS drive isn't even on the list.

  I have tried:

  1. Manually setting OpenCore.efi as default efi using bcdedit, but that doesn't change anything and it just keeps booting into Windows like normal.
  2. Moving the Mac EFI onto the windows EFI partition and renaming the "Microsoft" folder to something else (essentially hiding it), and then manually entering the Windows boot path under BlessOverride in my config.plist. That worked in making OC the default bootloader, but trying to boot Windows from there causes BSOD. Mac boots fine, though.

  I am currently out of ideas and don't know what to try next. Ideas are appreciated :) Thanks in advance.

  I’ve been searching and can’t seem to find any answers so I’ve resorted to this. I have a 5,1 with a Sapphire Pulse RX 580. I’ve managed to boot fine in to Monterey but my computer still has a black screen until the OS boots. This is mostly fine but I really want to dual boot with Windows. What am I missing? The only “weird” thing I’ve done is OCLP is on its own flash drive that stays plugged in. Any help is appreciated.
