Hello everyone,
I’ve managed to (almost) complete a macOS Sequoia installation on my Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid 2010/2012) using OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP). However, the system is now stuck in the post-installation phase and refuses to boot. All attempts to force the final setup have failed so far.
💻 Key Hardware Specifications
| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Model | Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid 2010/2012) |
| Graphics Card | AMD Radeon RX 570 (Non-EFI) |
| Recovery OS | macOS High Sierra |
| Target Disk | NVMe-2 (via PCIe adapter) — disk3, APFS Container disk6 |
| Active OCLP Loader | EFI on the original installer media (disk1s1) |
🛑 Current Issue
The Sequoia installer successfully copies all files to the NVMe-2 drive. However, after rebooting for finalization, the system fails to complete setup and automatically falls back to the High Sierra recovery OS.
When booting in verbose mode, the process halts after GPU initialization and enters a loop of error messages:
AppleKeyStoreoperation failedbluetoothd
(The initial GPU blocking issue seems resolved, but the boot process still freezes at this stage.)
🛠️ Debugging Steps & OCLP Modifications Attempted
Using the High Sierra session, I manually edited the OpenCore configuration file (config.plist) on the active EFI (disk1s1) as follows:
- Graphics Fix (RX 570)
- Injected the required argument in
<boot-args>to enable output from the non-EFI GPU. Current boot arguments:
-v npci=0x2000 agdpmod=vit9696This allowed verbose boot output, confirming the patch is at least partially effective.
- Boot Control & EFI Rebuild Attempts
- Adjusted the
Timeoutvalue inconfig.plist(from0→5) to access the OCLP menu and manually select the target volume. (I initially couldn’t accessconfig.plistuntil forcing a full OCLP rebuild.) - Rebuilt and reinstalled the EFI using OCLP’s “Build and Install OpenCore” tool, targeting the installer disk (
disk1). Tried to force-boot the Sequoia preboot volume via:
bash sudo bless --mount /Volumes/Preboot --nextonly(targeting
disk6s2).
Result: Regardless of configuration or boot method, the Mac Pro either:
- reverts to High Sierra, ignoring the updated EFI, or
- gets stuck on the same error loop if the boot is forced.
❓ Questions for the Community
Since the GPU initialization now appears correct, but the post-install phase (account setup, services) fails due to
bluetoothdandAppleKeyStoreerrors — 👉 Which additionalDeviceProperty** entries or **boot-argscould help bypass or disable these problematic services during installation? Is there a more reliable
blessmethod — for example targeting:
Install macOS Sequoia(disk1s2), orNVMe-2 – données(disk6s1) — that could force continuation of the installation process instead of booting into the recovery OS?
Thank you all in advance for your insights and troubleshooting tips!
