How to Improve App Loading Speeds on MacBook Pro 2015 (Sequoia OCLP)

Optimizing App Launch Times on Legacy MBP 2015

If apps run well but take a long time to open on macOS Sequoia, the bottleneck is likely disk I/O or the security verification process (Gatekeeper) being slow on older hardware.

Optimization Tips:

  1. Enable TRIM: Ensure TRIM is active by running sudo trimforce enable in Terminal. This helps the SSD maintain its speed over time.
  2. Disable FileVault: If security isn't your primary concern, disabling FileVault can significantly reduce disk overhead during app launches.
  3. Reduce Background Items: Go to System Settings > General > Login Items and disable anything unnecessary.
  4. OCLP FeatureUnlock: In OCLP settings, try disabling FeatureUnlock. While you lose some Continuity features, it can reduce the background load on the T1/T2 emulation layer.

Original Question: "MacBook Pro 2015"

Took my MacBook Pro 2015 2.7 ghz 15inch 16gb of ram to Sequoia using OCLP. Amazing that it can do it.
Is there anyway to improve my laptop? When I open apps they take quite a while to load. Once running they run well however. I understand I’m asking a lot of an old laptop just wondering if that’s how it is or if there’s something I can improve. Any advice is welcome, I’m trying to hold out until the release of the MBP m16. Thanks!
