Running macOS Sonoma on iMac 2010

The 21.5-inch iMac 2010 can run Sonoma, but its performance depends heavily on the GPU type (ATI vs Nvidia).

Critical Requirements:

  1. Metal GPU: If your iMac has the original non-Metal ATI card, UI performance will be slow. Upgrading to a Metal-compatible GPU (like K1100M) is recommended.
  2. Root Patches: You must apply the Legacy GCN/Non-Metal patches in OCLP after installation.
  3. RAM: Ensure you have at least 8GB (preferably 12GB+) of RAM for a smooth Sonoma experience.
  4. SSD: Do not attempt to run Sonoma on the original mechanical hard drive.
