Fixing WindowServer CPU Spikes on Late 2013 MBP
High CPU load from WindowServer when doing video tasks on Sequoia is often a result of broken metal acceleration or Kepler GPU driver conflicts.
Solution Steps:
- Update OCLP: Ensure you are on the latest OCLP version which includes improved Sequoia patches.
- Revert and Re-apply: Go to OCLP > Post-Install Root Patch, click Revert Root Patches, reboot, and then re-apply them.
- Disable Transparency: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and check Reduce Transparency to lower WindowServer load.
- Reset SMC: Shut down, plug in power, and hold
Shift + Ctrl + Opt + Powerfor 10 seconds to reset the system management controller.

I run MacOS Sequoia 15.7.2 with the latest OCLP on a Macbook Pro (Late 2013) with Intel 2.3 Quadcore and Nvidia GeForce GT 750M an 16 Gb RAM. Everything was working fine until about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden whenever I do something video related (browser, VC software, even ARD) the machine basically freezes with high CPU load, mostly WindowServer and kernel tasks.
Any idea what causes this and how to fix it?
