Recommended macOS for MacBook Air 2017
The 2017 MacBook Air handles newer OS versions quite well due to its relatively modern architecture.
Our Choice:
- macOS Sonoma: This is currently the best balance of features and performance. Widgets and improved security work flawlessly with OCLP.
- macOS Ventura: Choose this if you want the most stability with the new System Settings UI.
- Stay on Monterey: Only recommended if you have very little RAM (4GB) and don't care about the latest app compatibility.

Got an old MacBook Air from 2017 that has Monterey as its maximum OS. I wanna run Sonoma or Sequoia for the widgets but maybe Ventura would be fine too? Should I stay on Monterey?
Dual core i5 from like 2015 by the way, MidBook Air
