Resolving Black Screen on MBP 2010 (15-inch)

A black screen after applying root patches on the 2010 15" MacBook Pro is typically caused by the automatic switching between Intel and Nvidia GPUs.

The Fix:

  1. Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode (hold Shift at boot) to bypass the faulty graphics drivers.
  2. Disable Switching: Use a tool like gfxCardStatus (v2.3 or higher) to force "Integrated Only" or "Discrete Only".
  3. Revert Patches: In OCLP, click Revert Root Patches and reboot.
  4. TS2 Patch: Ensure the Tesla/Fermi graphics patches are selected in OCLP and try re-applying them while connected to an external display if possible.

MBP Mid 2010 black screen after boot

I installed macOS Monterey on this mid 2010 15” MBP and when I boot it after installing root patches, I’ll see the login screen for a second and then it’ll flash and go black. Any ideas?
