Resolving Black Screen on MBP 2010 (15-inch)
A black screen after applying root patches on the 2010 15" MacBook Pro is typically caused by the automatic switching between Intel and Nvidia GPUs.
The Fix:
- Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode (hold Shift at boot) to bypass the faulty graphics drivers.
- Disable Switching: Use a tool like gfxCardStatus (v2.3 or higher) to force "Integrated Only" or "Discrete Only".
- Revert Patches: In OCLP, click Revert Root Patches and reboot.
- TS2 Patch: Ensure the Tesla/Fermi graphics patches are selected in OCLP and try re-applying them while connected to an external display if possible.
Original Question: "MBP Mid 2010 black screen after boot"
| I installed macOS Monterey on this mid 2010 15” MBP and when I boot it after installing root patches, I’ll see the login screen for a second and then it’ll flash and go black. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
