Resolving Boot Blocks after Disk Formatting
If you see a prohibited symbol (circle with a line) after formatting your drive and trying to install macOS via OCLP, it means the Mac is trying to boot a kernel that it doesn't recognize as valid.
The Solution:
- Reset NVRAM: Formatting the drive doesn't clear the boot variables. Hold Cmd+Opt+P+R for two chimes to reset the Mac's memory.
- Boot via EFI: Ensure you are selecting the EFI Boot (the OCLP icon) first, and THEN selecting the 'Install macOS' icon. If you skip the EFI icon, the install will always fail.
- Check Disk Format: Ensure the drive is formatted as APFS with GUID Partition Map.
Original Question: "Why is this and how could I fix it (I already formatted my drive"
