How to Avoid Bricking an Intel Mac with macOS 27
The safest rule is simple: do not install Apple Silicon-only macOS builds on Intel Macs unless OCLP explicitly supports them.
Safe Upgrade Rules:
- Ignore Software Update prompts: A visible update does not mean your patched Mac can run it safely.
- Check architecture: Avoid IPSW or installers meant only for Apple Silicon.
- Wait for OCLP notes: Upgrade only after your Mac model appears as tested.
- Test externally: Use an external SSD for experiments, not your main disk.
- Keep rollback media: Maintain a bootable Sequoia or Sonoma installer.

 | I WILL NOT BE INSTALLING IT! It is just that I am surprise it even shows up! I can already see it, when the new macOS drops and people use OCLP and I think it is a good idea to download MACOS 27 that’s only built for apple silicon chips, they’ll be posting about why it bricked their mac and stuff, I feel so bad for the OCLP devs when that happens in September or October (whenever it releases) [link] [comments] |
