Best wifi dongle for catalina?
Image
I've recently picked up an XPS 9380 and am wanting to get macOS installed onto it. The WiFi card is unfortunately soldered onto the board, so I'm stuck with using a dongle. Anyone have any recommendations for a decently priced dongle that works with Catalina. submitted by /u/sukhata [link] [comments] [► Source]

bizarre issue with RTL8103E #Networking
Installed The kext for RTL8103E on a Hazard build 10.6.6i first time and worked great. Tried to upgrade to 10.6.8 and system wouldn't reboot. Decided to start over from scratch and reinstalled 10.6.6i but 2nd time around the RTL kext won't work. If I used DHCP it gives some strange IP address starting with 269 etc. I've even tried all manual settings. I get green light for ethernet, green light for network but no ISP or internet connection. I'm guessing I missed something on the reinstall but don't remember what I might have added first time around to get it to work. I know it's not my network or router as I've installed an RTL8139 card and it runs, but is slow as hell. source
Very unusual Realtek 8168 problem #Networking
Hello, I'm trying to solve what, as far as I can tell, is a relatively rare/unique issue. Been through half a dozen forums with no results. This morning I had a functional 10.8.2 with working internet. I was having some packet loss and intermittent connection drop issues that I isolated to the OSX by testing my connection on my Windows partition and also my Win/Linux laptop. So I figured I might be able to address the issue by trying an alternative kext file for my hardware. I first backed up everything (IONetworkingFamily and my Lnx2max kext). Replaced the necessary file with Slide's new R1000SL release. Repaired permissions, rebuilt cache and rebooted the computer. When I logged back in, I had no internet so I reversed the process back to my original files. When I booted back in, I found out that I still have no internet with the original files that were actually working earlier today. The really weird part is that, under network settings, Ethernet looks "Connected"...
