External SSD with OCLP Ventura OS would like to move drive internally.

Hello all. I have a late 2015 iMac 21.5" A1418 that was used mainly during remote school days and light browsing on Monterey OS. We would tolerate the slow performance with the standard 1 tb HDD since it was used infrequently. Lately, a family member started using it to do some remote desktop work and the slow performance was becoming a nuisance as the computer saw more action. To test drive perormance, I used OCLP on a fresh Crucial SATA 1 tb SSD that I mounted externally and used migration assistant to port over the applications needed for the remote desktop work. It was like a refreshed computer! Now I would like to move the SSD internally for a cleaner work desk aesthetic. What is the best approach?

My options are 1. Erase the SSD then clone the current HDD onto the formated SSD, mount internally then start over with OCLP on the newly mounted SSD. or 2. Just move the now created external SSD with OS Ventura internally. I ask as I am not if I just move the drive internally that it will be recognized as the boot drive.

Lastly, the tutorial I watched for making an external SSD boot drive showed the creation of a 25% partition to load the intall ventura OS file. That partition is taking up a lot of space. How do I remove this partition if at all? Thank you all. Not a computer guy. I just play with dogs and cats all day.
